It's true; it's possible! The base that makes up most chocolates come from raw Cacao, which is made from the beans of the cacao plant. It can easily be found in forms of powder, butter, and nibs. Some research has shown that pure cacao is one of the most concentrated sources of antioxidants from a natural origin, even when paired up against common antioxidant sources, such as blueberries. It has also been linked to lowering blood pressure, blood sugars, and even contributes essential fibre to our diets. Just one tablespoon contains a whopping 2 grams of insoluble fibre, which is 7% of the daily amount recommended by Canada’s health guide. So next time the craving strikes, don’t despair, and reach for a raw cacao drink or cacao nibs instead!
